Visiting a space shuttle in real life is an incredible experience and at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, I was able to do just that. An important part of the story of women in space, this is the shuttle that Mae Jemison flew on during her landmark trip into space.

Going to visit the Space Shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Centre is one of my favorite things to do in Los Angeles.
Not only is the museum completely free but it's essentially a whole day out filled with wonder, adventure, a spaceship, and also sharks.
The Space Shuttle Endeavour has its own hanger where you can walk under the shuttle and see it in all its glory. I've visited a few times and sometimes they have flight simulators that allow you to experience what it's like to land a space shuttle (spoiler: it's very difficult) and they have lots of exhibits but tell you about the people who travelled on the space shuttle during it’s 25 NASA missions.
The story of how the space shuttle got to the museum is also part of the exhibit with a few pictures of the space shuttle travelling across Los Angeles when it arrived in 2012.
Why should you visit?
The California Science Centre’s exhibit of the space shuttle endeavour is a great day out for anyone interested in NASA or aerospace. As well as the space shuttle exhibit, in the Air & Space wing, you can also see information about the Cassini, the Viking Lander and other space missions.
Additionally, the museum is part of the Exposition Park museum district that includes The Natural History Museum, the California African American Museum: CAAM, an IMAX theatre and beautiful rose garden.
